Aleph: The Silent Beginning of Creation

The Journey Through the Hebrew Alphabet

Over the past few months, I’ve been on a transformative journey through the Hebrew alphabet, studying, meditating, and expressing each letter through neurographic art—a form of creative healing.

So far, I’ve completed 16 letters, with 6 left. But this isn’t just about letters. It’s about choosing meaning over distraction, depth over superficiality, and connection over chaos.

Each letter holds deep mystical wisdom, and no letter is more fundamental than Aleph (א), the silent beginning of creation.

The Kabbalistic Meaning of Aleph

Aleph is unique among the Hebrew letters. It makes no sound of its own, yet it is the root of all speech. In Kabbalah, Aleph represents:

  • The Infinite Before Form: Before anything was created, before sound, light, or matter—there was Aleph. It embodies the unity before division, the pre-creation state of divine oneness.
  • The Divine Connection: Aleph is formed by two yuds (י) and a vav (ו), representing the bridge between the spiritual and physical realms (Chabad.org).
  • The Source of All Energy: The word Echad (אחד), meaning oneness, starts with Aleph, reminding us that all existence is interconnected.

The sages teach that before we take action in the world, we must first connect to the stillness within. One way to do this is by meditating on the letter Aleph, embracing its silent power and infinite wisdom.

Neurographic Art: A Bridge Between Creativity and Healing

Neurographic art is a meditative drawing technique that transforms emotions into visual expression. It was developed by Jewish psychologist Pavel Piskarev, who, according to some accounts, was inspired by his journey to Israel and the deep connection between the mind, creativity, and spirituality. This method uses flowing, intuitive lines that resemble neural pathways, helping to process thoughts, reduce stress, and promote inner healing.

In my Hebrew letter series, I’ve combined this technique with Jewish mysticism, allowing the profound spiritual meanings of each letter to emerge through organic, free-flowing designs. This fusion of art, meditation, and Kabbalistic wisdom creates a unique, immersive experience—one that invites reflection, personal growth, and connection to something greater.

Aliyah & A Personal Connection to Aleph

Since making Aliyah with my husband and kids, I’ve been on my own journey of silence and discovery. Moving to Israel wasn’t easy—like Aleph, it was a leap into the unknown. But in this transition, I found strength in stillness, in faith, and in the unseen forces guiding me forward.

Creating this series has been an incredible experience, blending art, meditation, and Jewish mysticism. It’s a project that brings together ancient wisdom and modern healing, and I’m excited to share it with others.

Meditation Cards: Bringing the Hebrew Letters to Life

This full Hebrew letter series will soon be printed as a set of meditation cards, combining mystical insights with neurographic art for reflection and healing.

By Mindy Morasha Rubenstein I began this journey as a writer before I knew exactly what I was writing about. I was the “lost child” in my family, growing up in chaos, and I didn’t know how to rescue others — but I did know I had a voice. I would later discover that writing…

The Hidden Abuse No One Talks About

I don’t have any bruises or scars, so you’d never know. What actually constitutes emotional or financial abuse can be so subtle.
