Sukkot in Israel: Finding Strength in the Temporary

By Mindy Rubenstein

In Kabbalistic thought, the sukkah symbolizes the balance between vulnerability and divine protection. Its open bamboo roof invites us to look up at the sky, reminding us to trust in Hashem’s infinite care.

From my road here in Zichron Yaakov, a town founded in the 1800s on the southern tip of the Carmel Mountains, I can see the Mediterranean Sea, the valley below, and the neighboring village. In my garden, red hibiscus and purple lantanas bloom, offering moments of calm and beauty.

As a private English teacher, I find inspiration in working with tweens and teens—both my own and others. Some of my students face unique challenges in school, but I’ve learned that these struggles can be transformed into creative superpowers.

I guide them in communicating with confidence, and together, we work on a community magazine that features poetry, art, and stories of Aliyah and entrepreneurs. Through this creative process, we not only express ourselves but also build a sense of community and support in these challenging times.

I am now accepting a few new students starting after the holidays. Please reach out to schedule a free assessment.

Wishing you a joyful Sukkot from the Eretz HaKodesh.

Finding My Voice: A Writer’s Journey

By Mindy Morasha Rubenstein I began this journey as a writer before I knew exactly what I was writing about. I was the “lost child” in my family, growing up in chaos, and I didn’t know how to rescue others — but I did know I had a voice. I would later discover that writing…

The Hidden Abuse No One Talks About

I don’t have any bruises or scars, so you’d never know. What actually constitutes emotional or financial abuse can be so subtle. For nearly three decades, I’ve lived in a nearly constant state of confusion, moving between being triggered by emotional abandonment and wondering if I was the one who was crazy. Maybe at times…
