I’m a Jewish mom living b’eretz—in the land. That’s what people say here, and I love it.
I made Aliyah in 2022, then left for six weeks, then returned. My family and I found a home with a mamad (shelter) in a community with more support for Olim. My therapist called it Aliyah 2.0.
Of course, like all of us, my story has multiple chapters and sections.
I grew up secular on the west coast of Florida and moved around to multiple places, but the most profound journey has been the one within me.
I’ve learned to better understand my emotions and what motivates me. To hear and trust my feminine intuition.
I’ve learned about my family of origin and those who came before me.
I’ve written about my ongoing story for various publications.
And I wrote a book about it. It’s taken 16 years and is still in the editing phase, but like with all journeys, writing the book has been more about the process than the destination or finished product.
For me, the most important part of any of it—the suffering and the success—has been learning I’m never alone, even when it feels that way.
I’m grateful to have the strength to share and connect with others through art and writing, and pray I can continue.
“Praise the Lord for He is good, for His kindness is everlasting.” Psalm 106:1
