For women making aliyah and new olim: free coaching and matchmaking

I recently made aliyah with my husband and kids. While it wasn’t as hard as many people may think, I did learn a lot along the way and evolved personally and professionally.

For 20-plus years I’ve written and published hundreds of articles, hired and led teams, created a women’s magazine, and developed strategy for nonprofits.

Most importantly, as a Jewish woman I am building my connection with G-d, infusing Torah into my daily life, and raising four children according to their unique gifts.

Soon after making aliyah, I accepted a writing job with a nonprofit, filling in for someone on maternity leave. The organization’s mission is to support the land and people of Israel. It’s nice to have the consistent income while helping causes close to my heart. And it has given me additional behind-the-scenes experience seeing how a charity is run.

All the while I keep asking, “What else does G-d want from me?”

As a new oleh and entrepreneur, I received free consulting sessions, and my advisor kept encouraging me to focus on helping other women who are making aliyah or already living in Israel.

So I finally dove in, thank G-d and have been offering free coaching and consulting to female olim and potential olim. Women have told me it changed their lives. It feels good for a moment, but the voice in my head says to do more.

So I’m building a team of qualified volunteers, and we are offering matchmaking services for other things women making aliyah or already in Israel may need — career counseling, shidduch matchmaking, help finding housing, coaching for marriage and parenting, and a mentorship program.

Making aliyah and living here can be hard. But it’s literally the best place on earth to be. And, with G-d’s help, we are here to help women who need us.

As Rav Yisroel Salanter would say, “True salvation can come only to a person who renders service to the community.”
