Our daughter Ariella visited us here in Eretz Yisrael, and I so enjoyed getting to spend time with her.
This life journey we take as humans—with finite bodies and infinite souls— is so remarkable. Painful, messy and beautiful.
For much of my BT journey I tried to impose my beliefs, or others’ standards, on my children. It’s so much more fun and empowering to focus instead on trying to live by example, work on being the best version of myself, and loving my kids as they learn and grow along the path that best suits each of them.
Having time away from my daughter gave me the space and perspective to more fully appreciate the young woman she’s becoming.
Thank you G-d for the privilege and responsibility of being a Jewish mama, for showing me grace and compassion when I mess up, and for bringing us back to our Promised Land.
[P.S. I’ll be visiting the Kotel (Western Wall) and other holy sites. Please send me your Hebrew name if you’d like me to pray for you.]
